I am excited to be teaching at Richards! I am facinated by history, love teaching literature and writing, and am eager to get started this semester!
PLEASE READ AND ADHERE TO THE BASIC GUIDELINES BELOW!
1. Please be on time for class; late arrivals limit the amount of information or class discussion a student is able to gain from.
2. Please don’t allow confusion to cloud your mind! I am here for you! You will not gain understanding or help if you do not seek me out for clarity! hprice@richardsacademy.com. I will respond as soon as possible!
3. I do not accept late work, nor do I reschedule exams. NO EXCEPTIONS! Please plan to attend or make prior plans if you are not able to attend class that day. (Get notes from a friend, schedule exam early, etc.)
4. A lot of writing assignments and projects are given as well as ample time to complete them. Do NOT procrastinate!! Start IMMEDIATELY! I allow time in class to work on the assignments so as to be there for any questions; however, all information HAS TO BE ATTAINED prior to class time! Our goal is to develop the skills necessary for a successful student, so DO NOT waste your time or mine!
5. Disruptive or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
6. I believe in giving rewards where a reward is due; therefore, exemptions may be allowed for final exams if a student has an "A" and 2 or fewer absences or a "B" and 1 or fewer absences. This is cumulative for the semester. Your student is always welcome to take the test to better his or her grade though.
7. My grading scale is as follows:
100-90 = A 89-80 = B 79-74 = C 73 -0 = F
8. Supplies needed for my classes:
1 1/2 to 2 inch 3-ring binder
loose leaf paper
dividers
thesaurus
** A NEW composition notebook -For Lit classes only
9. Below you will find information on how to appropriately create an essay. Your grade will reflect your ability to follow directions in documentation as well as the directions given for each individual writing assignment or project. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR APPLYING THE MLA DOCUMENTATION TO YOUR ASSIGNMENT!

Writing
This class is designed to move you through the basics of sentence composition all the way to creating actual well-written essays and research papers. Without good communication one will never be taken seriously nor be able to convey ideas or thoughts appropriately. It is for this reason that there will be nightly writing assigned and frequent evaluations of understanding.
